Belgian professional soccer team Gent has reached the quarterfinals of its domestic League Cup competition. Key midfielder Hong Hyun-seok came off the bench.

Gent defeated Sint-Truiden 1-0 in the round of 16 of the 2023-2024 Belgian Cup on Sunday (July 7) at the Stade de Steen in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, to advance to the next round.

Ghent took the lead in the 38th minute through Hugo Kuipers after a hard-fought battle.

They then held off Sint-Truiden’s attacks to reach the quarterfinals.

South Korean midfielder Hong Hyun-seok came on for Sven Coombs in the 31st minute of the second half. 안전놀이터 Although he didn’t register an attacking point, he was active in the midfield area and contributed to his team’s victory.

Hong joined Jürgen Klinsmann’s South Korea squad for the November A-Match, but was released from the squad early on March 16 after suffering a stress fracture in his left shin.

After recovering from the injury, he returned to action on March 3, starting in the 2-2 draw with Heinke in the 16th round of the league.

He made his second consecutive appearance as a substitute in the match, showing that he is fully fit.

Gent will play their 17th league round home game against RWD Molenbeek on October 10 at 4:45 am.
