Man City traveling star Kyle Walker, 33, has turned down a move to Bayern Munich and will remain at the Etihad Stadium.
“Walker has decided to stay at City,” Man City journalist Sam Lee reported on Aug. 8 (ET).
“Walker had agreed to move to Munich, but changed his mind after a recent meeting with Pep Guardiola. He is now considering whether to accept a new contract from the club.”
It’s a dramatic turn of events. Walker looked set to join Munich ahead of the new season. A transfer fee had been agreed, and rumors were rife that the player wanted a new challenge. He was looking forward to playing alongside the ‘monster’ Kim Min-jae.
However, Guardiola has recently said publicly that he would like Walker and midfielder Bernardo Silva to stay. For the two players, it’s understandable.
Walker was spotted having a private meal with Guardiola. The conversation is believed to have been cordial.
Walker’s retention is a de facto signing. This means that City will enter the 토토사이트 new season with the same defense that led them to the treble last season. Add to that the signing of left-back Josko Gvardiol from Leipzig to bolster the defense.
