Leading national team players challenging for the gold medal at the Paris Olympics were all included,

including Woo Sang-hyuk (track and field), Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min (swimming),

Ahn Se-young (badminton), and Shin Yu-bin (table tennis).

An official from the Sports Association said, “We selected about 20 candidates who are expected to win medals at the Olympics.

For example, in the past, all athletes representing each event went to overseas training,

but this time, only those hopefuls for Olympic medals in each event were selected separately and allowed to train overseas and participate in competitions.

“The difference is that we provide intensive support,” he explained.

Wrestling has been completely excluded from strategic training sports, and in judo, about three people,

led by Lee Jun-hwan, are sponsored by the Sports Association.

The Sports Association expected archery, fencing, badminton, swimming, and taekwondo to be medal sports at the Paris Olympics.

Fencing, archery, taekwondo and swimming played a leading role for the Korean team at last year’s Hangzhou Asian Games.
