Ha-seong Kim said in an interview with the San Diego Union Tribune after the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers held at Petco Park in San Diego, California on the 13th (Korean time),
“When I was hit by the ball, I suffered a major injury.
“I was very afraid that it would lead to this,” he said, adding, “I feel it is getting better as time goes by.”
Kim Ha-seong, who complained of pain, walked out to first base,
and was thrown out at second base when the follow-up batter,
Luis Araes, hit an infield grounder and returned to the dugout.
Coach Mike Silt called Ha-seong Kim to the bench during defense in the top of the fifth inning.
Manager Silt explained, “The trainer diagnosed that there was no major problem with the back of Kim Ha-seong’s hand and that it would get better, so we placed him at first base.”
The San Diego team said, “Ha-seong Kim underwent an X-ray examination, and no major abnormalities were found.
The test result was negative.”
Ha-Seong Kim is unlikely to be placed on the injured list (IL).
However, the timing of the game is unknown.
Kim Ha-seong said, “My condition is better than when I was hit by the ball,” but added,
“The back of my hand is still quite swollen.
We will find out tomorrow whether he will play in the game or not.”
