The Cheongju KB Bank Stars extended their winning streak to seven games with a victory over the Yongin Samsung Life Blooms.
KB Stars defeated Samsung Life 67-57 in the Hana OneQ Women’s Professional Basketball League 2023-2024 Season at Cheongju Gymnasium 스포츠토토 on Nov. 22.
With the win, KB Stars earned their 18th victory. At the moment, it seems impossible to stop KB Stars in the WKBL. The Stars have won a whopping seven games in a row to take sole possession of first place in the standings.
Samsung Life, on the other hand, has had a shaky start to the second half of the season with one win and two losses in their last three games. The loss to the fifth-ranked Incheon Shinhan Bank S-Bird on Nov. 15 was particularly painful as the team struggled to score.
On that day, the KB Stars were led by Park Ji-soo’s 20 points. Yeom Yoon-ah and Kang Yi-seul joined Park with 13 and nine points, respectively.
Samsung Life was led by Kiana veteran Bae Hye-yoon with 17 points, but Kang Yoo-rim was held to five points and could not prevent the team from losing.
Samsung Life was the first team to take control of the game. Samsung Life ended the first quarter with a 17-14 lead after Bae Hye-yoon and Kiana Smith combined for 13 points.
However, the joy was short-lived. KB Stars battled back in the second quarter, led by Park Ji-soo and Heo Ye-eun. The rest of the team scored evenly to take a 35-32 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, KB Stars’ Park Ji-soo took off. Park Ji-soo scored nine points on her own to widen the gap. Samsung Life, on the other hand, continued their frustrating offense as their main shooter Bae Hye-yoon was blocked. In the end, the score was 49-41.
KB Stars drove a wedge in the fourth quarter. Park Ji-soo was tied at three points, but Yeom Yoon-ah and Kang Isul came through. Samsung Life tried to catch up with the one-two punch of Smith and Bae Hye-yoon, but ultimately lost 67-57.
